Movie Review - Pirates Of The Caribbean : Salazar's Revenge

Pirates Of The Caribbean Salazar's Revenege , Movie Reivew

Pirates Of The Caribbean : Salazar's Revenge (May 2017) - The 5th installment of the hugely entertaining pirates franchise is still hugely entertaining, but by no means a classic or surpassing the original..

Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is still as funny and tipsy (maybe more for the latter). The newly added younger and good looking casts, Kaya Scodelario (as Carina Smyth) and Brenton Thwaites (as Henry Turner) are quite up to task. This installment also bring back the old-time fame, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley in the cameo but don't expecting much from them.

A much faster pace and entertaining installment than the earlier one and you will enjoy it like a roller coaster ride at the theme park..

My rating : 3.5  (out of 5 ) RECOMMENDED

Wonder Woman - Rave First Reactions and Wonder Woman Day (Trailers Inside)

Wonder Woman
If you asked me, which is my next most anticipated movie, my clear cut answer is WONDER WOMAN. In fact, I've already planned to watch it in IMAX 3D coming 1st June 2017.

Why?

Two reasons:

1. Because I like Gal Gadot and her portrayal of Wonder Woman is inch perfect.

2. I was sold by just watching the trailers. Granted! At times, trailer might be the best part of the overall movie. Having said that, I am pretty confident that this time round DC Universe will make amend.

In any case, the First Reaction from the early US audiences are raving the social media and I think it can be sum up in one word : WONDERFUL! Here are some of the articles :

On top of that, in conjunction of the upcoming release of this sure-fire blockbuster movie, DC has recently announced that 3rd June will be the Wonder Woman Day. For more details of the Wonder Woman Day, check out DC's official site here

According to DC, more than 2,000 bookstores, libraries, and comic book shops around the world will host activations to celebrate Wonder Woman, including distribution of two special edition issues, Wonder Woman Day Special Edition #1 by writer Greg Rucka and artist Liam Sharp, and DC Super Hero Girls Wonder Woman Day Special Edition #1 which will feature a chapter from the upcoming volume by writer Shea Fontana and artist Yancey Labat.

Are you going to watch Wonder Woman in the theater near you?

Cheers!

Movie Review - Get Out (2017)

Get Out (2017) - Finally got chance to watch this highly acclaimed and extremely successful (in box office) gem. With a mere $5 mil budget, it has amassed $173 mil in US box office alone.

No A-list casts;

No A-list director (maybe he, Jordan Peele, will become one after this);

No big budget;

No problem!

The plot is kind of direct and simple (but have an very interesting satirical take on racism), the casts are brilliance, especially Daniel Kaluuya (as Chris Washington) and Allison Williams (as Rose Armitage), the way the mystery are being unfold (layer by layer) is suspenseful and intense (especially the final 20 minutes or so).

Personally, I like movies with unexpected twist, this one got at least 2 major twists and I like the second one better than the first one.

As the movie title implied, we would expect the main character to Get Out (from the "Sunken Place"), but how? That's the question..

My rating : 4.5 (out of 5) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Alien Covenant
Alien : Covenant, the sequel to Prometheus (2012) and prequel to the original Alien franchise (from 1979) is hitting the cinemas on Wednesday (10/05/2017). Whether you are a fan of Alien or not, I am pretty sure that this is one of the most anticipating movie of the year.

Helmed by the visionary director of the original Alien, Ridley Scott and promising casts like Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston and Billy Crudup. It does seems like a MUST WATCH movie for me.

Finally, Avatar Sequels Have Confirmed Release Dates

Avatar
By now, I am pretty sure that most, if not all, movie fans would have watched, at least once, the 2009 masterpiece of visionary director, James Cameron's Avatar. When it first released, it broke plenty of records and remain the top-grossing movie of all time in the global box office with a whopping $2.8 billions.

Sequel has been in talk for years. Finally, James Cameron and 20th Century Fox have confirmed the release date(s) of the four sequels (yes, not only 1 but 4 sequels) as follows:

Avatar 2 - 18th December 2020
Avatar 3 - 17th December 2021
Avatar 4 - 20th December 2024
Avatar 5 - 19th December 2025

The good news is (at least to me), according to the director, each of the four sequels will be able to stand alone, but will together create a saga. Sounds a lot like a Star Wars franchise right? lol

We still need to wait far another 3 more years before movie fans go "crazy" again. Meanwhile, I will focus on another successful Marvel movie franchise, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2, which will be released next week.

Cheers!
